    • Bartholomew was a master mercer and paid stamp duty on an apprentice that he took in 1723

      He was left £15-00 in his brother Henry’s will. As Henry didn’t marry, Bartholomew as the eldest surviving brother, might have expected to be principal legatee but Henry willed the majority of his estate to his friend Thomas Hart. [5]
