  • Notes 
    • Elizabeth had an illegitimate daughter, Eliza, to John Lambert before they married. After the birth of their son, John, their relationship seems to have broken down and John Lambert left. It’s possible that Elizabeth had met James Rippingale and started an affair with him, which precipitated John’s desertion. This is the most likely scenario, I think given the comment on her son James baptism record.
      The baptism record says: ‘James Lambert supposed son of John and Elizabeth Lambert’.
      So given the name, it looks like that James could have been the son of James Rippingale, suggesting that Elizabeth and John Lambert’s relationship had already broken down by 1818
